The Colorado Avalanche face the Nashville Predators for the second time in three games tonight at Ball Arena, closing out a brief two-game homestand. Colorado is coming off a 4–3 shootout loss to Nashville on December 10. Tonight’s matchup serves as the rubber match of the season series between the two clubs.

Reid Schaefer added a goal, his third of the season, to give the Predators a 4-1 lead over the Blues at the end of two periods. His shot was a long range, turn-around wrist shot that caught Hofer off guard with 1:15 left in the period.

Nathan MacKinnon had two assists in his 900th NHL game for the Avalanche (21-2-7), who have earned a point in 20 of their past 21 games (16-1-4). Scott Wedgewood made 26 saves in his return to the lineup after he missed the previous three games because of a back injury.

Despite a strong effort and offensive chances, Predators credit the league-leading Avalanche for finding a way to secure the win.
