The trends on Gift Nifty also indicate a gap-down start for the Indian benchmark index. The Gift Nifty was trading around 22,093 level, a discount of nearly 167 points from the Nifty futures’ previous close.

After a break for Maha Shivratri on February 26, the stock market resumed trading on February 27. In the pre-opening session, the Sensex slipped 32.80 points to 74,569.32, while the Nifty 50 saw a decline of 368.15 points, trading at 22,179.40.

The Sensex and Nifty erased early losses to trade flat in the second half of the session on March 3, after falling over half a percent around noon. While oil & gas and financial services stocks dragged the Nifty lower, IT stocks provided some support. Volatility ruled the session as global trade concerns kept investor sentiment fragile.
