Chicago weather remains unsettled heading into the weekend, with the possibility of more severe storms Friday that could produce flash flooding and even a brief tornado.
A tornado watch has been issued until 11 p.m. Friday for Cook County and most of northern Illinois. Strong storms are expected to hit the Chicago area between 8 p.m. and midnight, the National Weather Service said.

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - According to the National Weather Service and local reports from the Emergency Management in Page County, a brief tornado touched down Friday afternoon.
This means that instead of receiving a tornado warning just 15 minutes before a storm strikes, residents could get up to two hours’ notice. The technology also allows for more targeted alerts, potentially narrowing warnings from entire regions to just one or two counties.
Sam, a resident at the border of St George and Hanham, said the "mini tornado" blew roof tiles off a neighbouring property while another elsewhere claimed bins and a bouncy castle went flying at a school event.

Earlier Wednesday, a tornado warning in New Castle County, Delaware, expired at around 9:15 p.m. A severe thunderstorm watch was in effect across much of the Philadelphia region for Wednesday evening.
A tornado warning for southeastern Guthrie County was allowed to expire as planned for 12:15 a.m. Friday. According to the National Weather Service, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Casey at 11:45 p.m., moving east at 35 mph.
