President Claudia Sheinbaum of Mexico on Friday morning said her government had sued Google over the company’s decision to label the Gulf of Mexico as ‘Gulf of America’ — a spat going back to February, when the Trump administration issued an executive order to rename the gulf.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum is suing Google for renaming the Gulf of Mexico the “Gulf of America” on Google Maps for users in the United States. The tech giant made the change in February after President Donald Trump signed an executive order that instituted the name change across the federal government.

President Sheinbaum argues Trump's executive order applies only to the US portion of the continental shelf.
