When Aldi announced its plans to purchase Southeastern Grocers, the fast-growing supermarket chain said it would convert many of the Winn-Dixie and Harveys stores. Aldi said it would convert about 220 of the stores to its format over the next two years. At least four former south Louisiana Winn-Dixies are currently being rebranded as Aldi stores.

After less than a year under the ownership of Aldi, Florida-based supermarket chain Winn-Dixie is being sold again, its parent company announced Friday.

The New Hampshire-based company has made a deal to buy 170 Winn-Dixie grocery stores and another 170 Winn-Dixie liquor stores from Aldi, according to a report from Reuters citing sources close to the emerging deal.

According to a news release from Southeastern Grocers, “a consortium of private investors, spearheaded by the current CEO and President of Southeastern Grocers Inc. (SEG), Anthony Hucker, and C&S Wholesale Grocers ” have acquired approximately 170 stores from ALDI U.S.

Aldi is converting many former Winn-Dixie stores. The latest transformation will be in Panama City Beach. We now know when the new store will debut.

The consortium said it will immediately assume day-to-day operation of Winn-Dixie grocery and liquor stores and Harveys Supermarkets; some Aldi conversions will continue through 2027.

C&S Wholesale Grocers is reportedly nearing a deal to acquire 170 Winn-Dixie stores and 170 Winn-Dixie liquor stores from discount chain ALDI. C&S, along with members of Winn-Dixie's management team, are poised to complete the deal in the coming days, according to a report from Reuters citing people familiar with the matter.

The German discounter will sell the grocery company, its banners and 170 stores to a consortium of investors led by C&S Wholesale Grocers and the head of Southeastern Grocers.

A group led by C&S Wholesale Grocers is closing in on a deal to buy nearly 350 Winn-Dixie grocery and liquor stores from German discount chain Aldi's U.S. unit, according to people familiar with the matter.

Six Winn-Dixie grocery stores across Orange, Seminole, Osceola, Lake, Volusia and Brevard counties, as well as The Villages, already have closed and are in the process of converting to Aldi’s, after which point they will reopen.
