Update: As of 5:45 p.m., the New York State Fair has reopened its gates. The fair also says tonight’s concerts will go on.

An Allegiant Air flight turned around and made an unplanned landing as a swath of bad weather blocked its path north through Georgia.

The stormy weather comes as heat and humidity was expected to peak this afternoon, with "feels-like" temperatures close to 100 degrees.
