Most fountain pumps have a removable cover that gives access to the propellers. Open that, if possible, and use an old toothbrush, a toothpick or running water to clean out any gunk.

The iconic Ira Keller Fountain has been running dry for more than a year since its aging pump broke in May of 2023.
