Grease is one of the most famous films of the 70s, and according to Didi Conn, one of the actors, the cast remained in character even while not filming.
On Aug. 26, 1978, 48 years ago today, the movie's title track, "Grease," by Frankie Valli, hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. It was one of two songs from the Grease soundtrack to reach No. 1, along with "You're the One That I Want," by Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta, the film's headlining stars.
