Many people associate sod houses with early day settlers. Often called a “soddy,” this type of home was built from patches of sod, cut into rectangles and piled on each other to make walls.

I was born in 1925 on a farm about halfway between Scranton and New England. Born in a house Dad had constructed from buffalo grass sod.
