Maps 3D PRO (U$4.99) is a entirely different animal. Designed for hikers, cyclists, skiers and outdoor activities, the app provides 2D and 3D map views that show details of terrain and altitude.

The Depth Pro system doesn't bother with all that though, yet is able to generate a detailed 3D depth map at 2.25 megapixels from a single image in 0.3 seconds via a standard graphics processing unit.

There’s a nighttime view baked into 3D, and Apple’s design team took the time to customize the 3D builds with lights for a starry night look. It looks great on a 12.9-inch iPad Pro.
