Backyard Sports announced Tuesday that it is re-releasing the original version of Backyard Football on Sept. 9, rebranding it as Backyard Football '99.

Football in the ’70s had a different kind of energy. The game was rougher, the hits were harder, and the rivalries ran deep. Fans packed into living rooms with rabbit-ear TVs or braved freezing bleachers just to see their team battle it out.

The NFL preseason has started, which means football will occupy a lot of TVs for the next few months. To help you get in the mood for football season, Apple is planning to bring NFL Retro Bowl '26 to Apple Arcade on Sept. 4 .
