A day after there seemed no plans to broach the subject with Devers, the Red Sox manager said, "Obviously, things might change."

Even with a vacancy at first base, Alex Cora brushed aside talk that Rafael Devers would be an option to shift to first.

The Boston Red Sox are already dealing with enough internal issues. They've got superstar Rafael Devers essentially refusing to learn how to play first base amid injury problems. Devers would rather stick at DH after his third base job was usurped by Alex Bregman. But sadly for the Red Sox, that isn't the only issue.

On the field at least, the Red Sox did not seem like a team impacted at all by the Rafael Devers melodrama over the last two days. They picked up their biggest series win of 2025 in Kansas City.
