Mikel Arteta says Riccardo Calafiori being fit for Arsenal’s Champions League semi-final against Paris Saint-Germain is a possibility. The defender suffered a knee injury on international duty for Italy in March and will again miss this weekend’s trip to Ipswich Town.

Jorginho is absent with a rib injury picked up last weekend during Arsenal’s draw against Brentford, while Calafiori is coming back from a knee issue sustained playing for Italy last month. Calafiori is progressing well with his recovery and is set to make the Arsenal squad for the first leg of their semi-final clash with PSG on April 29.

It is one thing to dismantle Real Madrid, the European champions, in a two-leg knockout tie. It is another thing entirely to do so without a recognised striker, without arguably your best central defender and with a teenager at left-back who had never even played in defence before this season.
