Dune buggy rides at Sand Dunes Frontier, a private parkland, reach back to the 1950s when an entrepreneur named Rush Chapman created a new way for folks to get around the Oregon Dunes.

A nursing-home manager in town says his retirees like having the dune buggy rides and other activities nearby, because it means more visits by their fun-loving grandkids.

Sand Master Park touts itself as the world’s first sandboarding park, where visitors can ride the Oregon dunes.
