Former Superman actor Brandon Routh has heaped praise on David Corenswet’s performance in the latest DC blockbuster about the storied superhero. Routh, 45, played the hero in 2006’s Superman Returns, which was branded a “super flop”.

From one Superman to the latest Superman, to say you cried "no less than three times" while watching the film feels like a compliment of the highest order, one that would probably greatly eclipse anything a critic might say.

While “Superman Returns” disappointed at the box office and with critics, Routh has never soured on DC. Over the years, he’s appeared in several adaptations of its comic book IP in a variety of roles.
