UConn Huskies basketball player Paige Bueckers is headed to the WNBA after being chosen by the Dallas Wings as the No. 1 pick in Monday night's draft, just over a week after leading her college team to victory in the 2025 March Madness tournament.

NEW YORK — Eight days after guiding UConn to its first national championship in nine years, the Dallas Wings selected Paige Bueckers with the No. 1 pick in Monday’s 2025 WNBA Draft.

In a much anticipated move, the Wings selected the UConn star first overall in the 2025 WNBA Draft on Monday. Bueckers to Dallas appeared to be a lock as soon as the Wings found out they would get the No. 1 overall pick in this year's draft.
