American Chris Gotterup earned an invitation to the Open Championship by beating Rory McIlroy at the Scottish Open

Rory McIlroy came within a whisker of his second Genesis Scottish Open title, but ultimately finished two strokes behind a surprising winner.

The final three spots in the 2025 British Open went to the top finishers in the Genesis Scottish Open not already in the British field.

While some may be focused on fine tuning for Royal Portrush -- the final major of the season -- time is also running out to pick up a big win on the 2025 campaign. The Scottish Open is also a nice warm-up for golf fans in the United States as it provides a chance to get ready for The Open viewing schedule that requires some extra coffee for those early morning golf hours.

Nico Echavarria took home the super-cool prize reserved for whoever got the first ace on the 6th hole of the Scottish Open, making a fan happy in the process.
