Black bear sightings have been reported in multiple locations in the Kansas City metro, according to authorities. A Grandview Police officer -- on his way to work just before 6 a.m. Tuesday -- spotted a black bear near a Taco Bell at West Outer Road and Main Street in Grandview, according to a statement from the city.
Black bear sightings on May 12-13 have been confirmed in Johnson County, Kansas, and Jackson County, Missouri.

The bear has been spotted in two locations, one near Taco Bell and the other at 13th and Skyline in Grandview.
While viral videos show black bears swimming in pools or trying to navigate a hammock, the reality is that bears can be dangerous.
The incident occurred in the Idaho Panhandle’s Priest Lake drainage. Upon correctly identifying the bear as a grizzly at the scene, the hunter reported the error via IDFG’s Citizens Against Poaching hotline. IDFG said the hunter is fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation, which is standard procedure in this situation.
