Scott Kenneth Homer Bessent (/ ˈ b ɛ s ən t / BESS-ənt; born August 21, 1962) is an American investor and hedge fund manager who has served since 2025 as the 79th United States secretary of the treasury. [1]

Mr. Bessent has been in the global investment management business for 40 years, visiting 60 countries, interacting with international leaders and central bankers. He is regarded as a currency and fixed income specialist.
