Jul 1, 2020 · Since Jellyfish are ~95% water, they are very easily manipulated by water movement. If your sump intake is on the top, I think that should be safe. But if there are sump intakes on the bottom or middle of the tank, there could be a risk if it were to dislodge (by itself or via water movement) and get pulled into a spot.

Apr 4, 2020 · I initially thought they were starfish but after doing some digging on the internet I think they’re Hydroid Jellyfish. My tank is approx 7-8 weeks old. Could that be the reason for them and I’ve read that they appear on newer tanks and disappear when it comes more established. Can anyone help me on this and what I should do?

Jul 3, 2023 · Sorry for the late reply! Yes, there are Hydrozoans so they are more closely related to jellyfish. They do still have a aragonite skeleton like some Anthozoans. Sadly, the types of food they consume is not completely known. My best guess based on their habitat and gasterzooid (polyp) size would be super small zooplankton and bacterioplankton.
