Before makeup, before tea, come with me on the morning scavenger hunt my son-in-law set up for me, hiding one of my most prized possessions. I literally couldn't start the day without it because I have priorities. ✌🏼 | Beth Woolsey

Time for a Camp Rewind: Summer Camp for GrownUps Update! I just met with our A-Team to nail down logistics, and I AM SO EXCITED. Friends, these people deeply understand what we're trying to do here with JOY and INCLUSION and CONNECTION and PLAY, and, of equal importance, they have the expertise to pull it off. Please do join me and my family and come play in the beautiful Oregon forest this summer! We're going to have an absolute blast-from-the-past ball. @summercamprewind P.S. Register by May 1

#MeetAbbysBirthMom, a recap. I'm behind on sharing absolutely everything from this trip to #Vietnam, but that's because I've been engrossed in experiencing it. I'll post more in the days to come, but for now I'll share this little video in review. Oh, you didn't know I'm on the TickityTok? That's ok; I didn't either. 😂 Abby makes and posts content for me there, because she thinks it's silly that I don't. May we all be so blessed to have a kid who's willing to run our lives. Also, this video mad

I had 20 minutes to pack for my unplanned trip to Mexico. Let's unpack and see what I brought. P.S. I just arrived home. But I filmed this when I first got to Mexico. Don't be confused. ✌🏼 P.P.S. FOR MY FATHER, who has complained about such things in the past and suggested I "wrap content like this in a paper bag," there are a couple spicy items at the end. I mean, what would you do with an ancient Roman amphitheater all to yourselves when your musical child joins you? Is there any choice other than singing in Latin? Note: Any discordance is defs me. I like singing but haven't done any since college unless "to the radio in the car" or shower solos count. I stick with the regular part. Cai harmonizes with sweet highs and lower lows. This made my heart happy. | Beth Woolsey

OK, LISTEN. I HAVE NOT BEEN DRINKING. I honestly don't know why this whole thing was cracking me up so much. Maybe it's because #TravelingwithAnxiety as a series is ridiculous. In the best way, of course. Like my brain. Ridiculous in the best way. Joyfully depressed. Gleefully anxious. Then again, I'm a nutjob, so I'm just goofy like this a lot of the time. 🤷🏻♀️ I refuse to be defined as one thing or the other. BOTH/AND FOR LIFE. Anyway, please enjoy this video, in which I share a couple of m

In case you're in a dark season right now like I am, here's a friendly neighborhood reminder from my wonky brain to yours that's it's getting incrementally lighter right now--a few teeny tiny glimmers of hope and joy at a time. Be on the lookout for those few seconds every day. Especially the figurative ones, you know? The ones that pull you out of your spinning and ground you in your infinite worth. I swear by everything I know of the seasons of change and our precious, tender hearts that the l

Also, I'm Gen X, in case this video doesn't make that ABUNDANTLY clear, bless my darling, unfeeling heart. I'm working on it. Seriously, though. What do you think "feel your feelings" means? This is not a trick question. I will answer, too, but I wanted to ask you first because I'm wondering if I'm the only one who truly didn't understand the basics, like where in the body feelings exist, *how* feeling feelings begins, how to know when feelings are asking for attention, and then, best of all, wh

POV: When you've been happily married for 20 years but are celebrating 29 years of marriage. 🤷🏻♀️ Listen; it took us a while to figure some of our shit out and to really, truly, deeply consider whether we were better together or not. Not every marriage is worth saving. Not every marriage is safe or healthy or contains partners who are both willing to do the forking impossible work of being better and doing better and learning to treat each other and ourselves with gentleness. But ours was. So

Ian is 26 today, and he has some important wisdom for us from his future self. 😂 For those of you new here, Ian is our oldest son. He loves Xbox, the Seahawks, the Oregon State Beavers, and Nike shoes. His favorite activity is hanging out. His favorite food is pumpkin pie. Ian also has intellectual disability, so the world can feel a little overwhelming sometimes. He lives in a group home with other young men with disability. For those of you who've been here a while, I know you'll be glad for

Extraordinary Human Alert! This is Matt and his Mom, Susan. Matt was the 2018 National Parks Volunteer of the Year. For, like, all of America, friends. These two work as national parks volunteers full-time, year 'round, welcoming guests with amazing smiles and grace, spending their summers in Alaska's Denali National Park tracking and greeting visitors. Thirteen years ago, when Matt was around 26, Matt and Susan sold their condo and most of their belongings, bought a van for a home and began tra

Am I the only one for whom rest = guilt? I have spent years not allowing my body to feel tired. Not acknowledging it. Pushing through. Worshipping at the altar of productivity over attunement. Turns out, learning to feel feelings means paying attention to what's happening in my body and then responding to that information as though I'm a kind, wise, trustworthy partner to myself. Yikes, friends. This is the latest installment in How to Feel Feelings by a Beginner Feelings-Feeler. #MagicInTheMess

Psilocybin Treatment Part 4: Initial Results It's been about 5 weeks since I did #psilocybin treatment for #majordepressivedisorder, and here are my initial results: overall, good! That's the shorter version. Longer version in the video. My takeaway is: I wish magic mushrooms were an *actual* magic fix, and, so far, they have, indeed, resolved my depressive/anxious feelings. However, I'm most interested in longterm mental health, and the best outcomes happen when folks use the time following psi

I planted morning glory, even though everyone told me not to. I have a metal mesh fence inside my yard fence to keep the dogs out of the garden and the toddlers, when they appear, out of the fantastically ugly, very gigantic, summer-season, blow-up pool, and I wanted something to climb and crawl on that fence. To create beautiful chaos. To give kalidescope colors in hues more natural than blue plastic. And, because I'm impatient, I wanted something quickly. Something for this season. Something f

Fellow Anxious Humans: if wrapping up the old year and seeing goals for the new is giving you anxiety, this is for you. And, by you, I mean me. Us. This is for us. Also, I hate it when videos say WATCH TILL THE END because they usually LIE. But watch till the end because I lead the "not perfection or pretend" by example, friends. 😂 Gross, but you're welcome. ✌🏼 Happy New Year! #IrrationalJoyProject #magicinthemess #wavinginthedark #newyear #anxiety | Beth Woolsey

New Series: How to Feel Feelings by a Beginner Feelings-Feeler. Starting with what I (turns out mistakenly) thought "feel your feelings" meant. Friends. Friends. Friends. AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO DID NOT KNOW? Am I the only one who thought feeling feelings a) existed in the brain or out in the undefined emotional ether, b) would kill me dead by overwhelming me and dragging me under, c) was deeply, desperately dangerous, and d) was overrated anyway because feeling feelings is just dramatic wallowing

My parenting has changed quite a bit from the anxious days of parenting my first teen fourteen years ago to parenting teens now. This way works far better for us. Live and learn. 1. My kids don't have to earn trust. Trust is the baseline, and they're inherently worthy of it. 2. I give my kids a LOT of freedom. They don't have curfews, but they do need to lmk where they are. I ensure they know it's because I get anxious and need to be kind to my brain by reassuring it my babies are OK. It has not

These little muffins are approximately 18 hours old, and Spork is the best mama. She let me and one of the teens pet her this morning before nipping us with her teeth, like, "Thank you very much, now take your human fingers away from my babies right the fork now." Said teen texted while I was out of the room, "She keeps leaving the tent to walk toward me and then she goes back. I'm not sure if it's in an "I'll fuck you up" way or a "please please love me" way." I've been a new mommy before, so I
