Blue Magic is an American R&B and soul group that was popular in Philadelphia in the 1970s. The band was founded in 1972 by Ted Mills, Vernon Sawyer, Wendell Sawyer, Keith Beaton, and Richard Pratt. Their first four albums were released between 1973 and 1976, and a dozen of their singles made it onto Billboard's R&B chart, including the number one hit "Sideshow". Blue Magic was a 70s Philadelphia soul group who was not produced by Thom Bell or Gamble and Huff, but by Norman Harris. Blue Magic’s song, Sideshow, stands as a 70s soul classic. Blue Magic’s successful run as a group was short-lived, basically from 73-77, but they delivered some excellent music and Ted ‘Wizard’ Mills was one of the great falsetto voices of the 70s, along with William Hart (The Delfonics), Russell Thompkins Jr (The Stylistics) and Philip Bailey (Earth, Wind and Fire). #musichis
