A gaited horse’s canter is a three-beat gait with a distinct footfall pattern and involves a moment of suspension where all four feet are off the ground. In the three-beat rhythm the following takes place: #1 The left hind strikes the ground #2 The right hind and left fore legs strike the ground almost simultaneously #3 The right fore leg strikes the ground followed by a moment of suspension The footfall pattern for a right lead is as follows: •Left hind leg •Simultaneous strike of right hind an
