📍Franklin was founded in 1799 by Abram Maury who bought 640-acres of land from Major Anthony Sharp in a bend of the Harpeth River, and had the idea of erecting a town on it. The Harpeth River is 115 miles long and one of the major tributaries of the Cumberland River and part of the Mississippi River watershed.
