Drought affects all aspects of life here in the Arizona desert, including species like bighorn sheep. To help alleviate those effects, AZGFD uses solar-powered satellite sensors to more efficiently maintain 3,000 wildlife waters around the state, including man-made catchments. AZGFD biologists and volunteers hiked down to Raspberry Creek to hand stock 250 Whiskey Creek lineage Gila Trout. The 4" Gila trout are carried in buckets and the 7-mile roundtrip hike has about 1000’ of elevation drop. This project continues the Gila Trout recovery process for Arizona's creeks and streams.
