🩷 Your Daily Dose of Women’s History… On October 25, 1774, 51 women in Edenton, North Carolina signed the Edenton Resolves, pledging to boycott British goods and publicly support the colony’s non-importation agreements. Led by Penelope Barker, they turned a “tea party” into one of the first recorded political actions by women in America. Their statement ran in the Virginia Gazette and crossed the ocean into London papers, proving that women would not be silent about liberty.  Ridicule followed
